Hello All!

Bear actually got 2 days off from work plus the weekend, so we decided to do a Spring Break trip around the Photo Hunt 2 goal we have for ourselves.

Day 1 - Technically, day one started Wednesday about 6:30 pm when we headed out of Alvin for Seguin where we spent the night. But no pictures were taken and we were just in a hurry to get some road behind us. So...

Day 1 - We headed out of Seguin about 9:30 Thursday morning and our plan was to get a few cities from the photo hunt around San Antonio (Live Oak, Bulverde, and Hondo). It was chillier than we had expected.

When we got to Hondo, we had a change of heart concerning our route. We do this pretty regularly, change our minds and re-route. Good thing we are both spur-of-the-moment kind of people, or we'd be at each other's throats. I can think of a couple of close friends that would have had my liver for lunch changing up the ride like that. We originally were going to make today our play day in the hill country (Twisted Sisters, Bandera, and such). But Uvalde and Day 3's photo hunt cities were not that far down the road, so we decided to get those cities behind us, stay in Junction, and have much more time to play in the hill country on Day 2 - Friday. Both of us agreed that was a MUCH better plan.

So we're in Junction at Day's Inn which overlooks the Llano River and I-10. The I-10 view is actually the better view, with the river as low as it is. See if you can spot the deer - taken from the balcony of our room.

We all know how careful you've got to be when it comes to keeping gas in the bike when you're out in the more desolate areas of Texas. Between Uvalde and Bracketteville, we got pretty close to having to push the bike. Bear says we had a good 15 miles left before choking on fumes, but we were too close for comfort in my book. After filling up again in Bracketteville, we saw one truck pass us in about 80 miles to Rocksprings. This was taken between Bracketteville and Rocksprings...

Last leg of the trip on Thursday, between Rocksprings and Junction...

You'll notice that Bear shed layers throughout the day (so did I). The morning was CCCcold, but come 1:00 we'd shed our jackets. Then about 3:00, he shed the top shirt (I couldn't shed my topshirt :laughing7:).

Friday
Okay, so we had a whole day to play in the Hill Country, Whoo Hoo!

We started our from Junction south on Hwy 83. We turned west on Hwy 41 so we could kick start the fun going south on 336, one of the Twisted Sisters. Once we reached Leakey, we took 337 to Vanderpool, then on to Bandera where we stopped to eat at Brick's Restaurant. Gotta say, real good food! Weather was awesome, not too cold, not too hot, picture perfect riding weather...

These were taken from Hwy 16 right before coming into Bandera from Medina.

We then headed west on 470 to Tarpley and Utopia, then 1050 to 83, then south on 83 into Uvalde where we spent the night.

Saturday
Our destination was Corpus and we knew the hills were behind us. Not many pictures, but we did knock Benavides off the photo hunt list.

I had my mind set on seeing Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters at the Brewster Street Ice House in downtown Corpus. We got there in time to eat before the singing started. We had a great time! He's very entertaining. As good a singer as he is an actor.

Sunday
I wasn't feeling very well and wanted to get back home to Alvin, so we decided to forgo three of the photo hunt towns (Bayside, Beeville, and Goliad) and just get Rockport then head home. We left the hotel at 11:00am and pulled in the driveway at 5:00pm. Going another 2 hours out of the way was not appealing to me. Bear says we'll just have to make another Corpus trip to get those. Sounds good to me!

Hope everyone had a great Spring Break week, whatever you did, where ever you may have gone!
